Himalayan Salt Candle Holders Benefits

These salt candles are cut from solid pieces of Himalayan rock salt. Once you light the candle, the colour of the salt shows up properly. Some are quite pale; some are darker pink or orange. It really does vary from one piece to the next.

The salt comes from Pakistan and the holders are not all going to look the same. You might get one with darker lines through it, a rougher edge, or a slightly different shape.

What Do They Look Like?

Most of the candle holders are fairly chunky and solid.

Where to Put One

They are quite easy to find a place for as they are not particularly big.

A shelf, side table, dining table or mantelpiece usually works fine. Just keep it somewhere flat where it is not likely to get knocked over.

And obviously, keep it away from curtains, paper and anything else that should not be near a flame.

Most of these holders are made for a standard tea light. The opening can vary a little. It is worth checking the measurements if you are unsure.

Before You Order

Have a look at the size before you buy.

The holders can look similar in photos even when the measurements are quite different.

Check the weight as well if you are putting it on a small shelf.

What Happens When You First Open It?

You might see a little salt dust when you open the box.

Sometimes there are a few loose grains around the holder too. This can happen while it is being moved around in transit.

Using More Than One

There is nothing to stop you from using a few together.

A row of smaller holders can work nicely along a dining table or mantelpiece. They can also be dotted around a shelf if there is enough room.

Looking After It

There is not much involved here.

Just wipe off any dust with a dry cloth.

Do not rinse it under the tap. It is salt after all.

The rougher edges can chip if they get knocked, so move it with a bit of care.

If you are putting it away, then keep it somewhere dry.

What Does It Look Like When Lit?

You notice the colour more once the tea light is on.

Some bits can look brighter than others and the darker parts of the salt can stay quite deep in colour.

It also changes a bit depending on the room. The glow will stand out more in a darker room.

What If the Salt Has a Crack or Mark?

Natural salt can have lines and marks running through it.

A small line in the salt does not always mean the holder is damaged. Some pieces simply have more visible markings than others.

The rougher styles can also have little chips around the edges.

If there is a large crack or part of the holder has broken away during delivery. Give it a proper look before putting a candle inside.

Using Them on a Dining Table

These work well on a dining table because they are small enough to fit between the rest of the things you already have out.

You could use one in the middle or put a few along the length of a bigger table. If you are using more than one, you should give each holder a bit of space.

Just watch what you put around them. Napkins and other table decorations need to be kept well clear of the flame. The same goes for anything hanging over the table.

It is also better to put the holders somewhere they are not going to get knocked when people are reaching across for food or moving plates around.

Can They Be Used Outside?

You can use one outside now and then if the weather is dry.

They are fine on a garden table for a meal or while you are sitting outside in the evening. I would still bring it back in when you are finished.

Rain is the main thing to avoid. I would not leave one outside overnight.
